I had the opportunity to not only call play-by-play for a basketball game, but also a football game as I called OU vs Maine towards the end of the football season. I made the most of this experience by executing the necessary preparation to ensure I was familiar with the background and underlying storylines for both teams. I did my work in the Radio Broadcast style which is a more in-depth narration of what is happening in the game. It required a detailed knowledge of players and their play styles, coaches and their schemes and various storylines for both teams entering the week. Similar with basketball, I prepared by creating my spotter chart with the most important information for players on both teams as well as understanding the importance of the game for both teams.
